Welcome to MedArt!

It is said that in the face of death, life becomes even more precious.

Dr. Richard RagleThis is a fact that Dr. Richard Logan Ragle fully believes in. He is a board-certified osteopathic family practice physician, who has both delivered babies and assisted people in the dying process. This experience has given Dr. Ragle many interesting insights and perspectives, which are uniquely expressed in his sculptures.

Dr. Ragle's art is directed by his own spiritual recovery over personal struggles. Through his art, he hopes to open his viewers' hearts to their own spiritual truth. Dr. Ragle believes that he accomplishes this goal with some success. He remembers a particular occasion in a gallery outside of Santa Fe, New Mexico. He noticed a Native American viewing his piece "Logan" (one of his bronze sculptures, above right); while looking at the sculpture, the man leaned into the piece and inhaled deeply while moving his hands over the piece. He then exhaled deeply and reversed his hand motion. When the man was asked what he was doing, he stated, "In my culture, when we see something that blesses our soul, we breathe its energy into our being, then bless it, and finally exhale our blessing onto the piece. This way it is always a part of us, and we of it."

Dr. Ragle is a self-taught sculptor, and through his medical training, he is able to exquisitely portray the beauty of the human anatomy in his sculptures. He works mainly in bronze, but he also does original masterpieces in gold, silver, wood, and various gemstones. Richard was born in Denver, and he currently lives in the mountains between Santa Fe and Albuquerque.
